On the advice of her roommate/stylist, she has come prepared with a hot pink Bodyglove swimsuit to wear underneath instead. “It’s got to contradict the fanciness,” says Fay. “Whenever I have had my makeup done I just end up rubbing it off.”
Pulling the drapes closed to try on her first choice. A white, beaded knee-length flapper, which she plans to wear over the swimsuit, Fay continues talking. “The thing about vintage is that it’s not precious; you can put on a vintage dress and go bike riding.”

The next dress is a floor-length red jersey goddess gown with a ’70s vibe reminiscent of what many Hollywood ingénues wore at the Oscars. “I love this,” says Fay, draping the asymmetrical scarf around her head to resemble a young Grace Kelly. Trying it on with white opera gloves and then a knotted headscarf she attempts different ways to subvert its all-out, old-school glamour but the dress is winning.
“But sometimes its great to walk into a restaurant with everybody else in jeans and you are in a chic little lace dress.”
In order to be able to rock out on stage and last all night, Fay will need a new pair of Capezio dance character shoes for the Junos because “all of mine are covered in fake blood.”
